Native Tourism Alliance

About Us

Tribal Nations in South Dakota steward a rich array of natural and cultural resources—many of which offer untapped tourism opportunities. The South Dakota Native Tourism Alliance invites you to explore all that the Oceti Sakowin Oyate, or “People of the Seven Council Fires,” has to share with our relatives near and far.

The South Dakota Native Tourism Alliance (SDNTA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of representatives from the nine federally recognized Tribal Nations in South Dakota, along with industry leaders and local, state, and federal partners. Together, we are working to develop Native American tourism as a powerful driver of economic growth and cultural preservation.

For Tribal Nations, tourism offers a pathway to alleviate poverty, a reason to conserve their heritage, and a platform to share their stories on their own terms.

For the growing number of travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences, Indigenous tourism offers meaningful connections and memories that last a lifetime.
